Care Guide

Sustainability doesn't end at purchasing sustainable brands. Proper care of your clothes can extend their life cycle as well as reduce pollution.

Here are our general tips:

  1. Wash less frequently 💧: Washing clothes too often can wear them out faster and use more water and energy. Wash only when clothes look or smell dirty. Did you accidentally drop food on your clean shirt? Try to spot clean first before sending it to the washing machine.
  2. Machine-wash inside out with similar colors.🙅🏽Avoid washing with sharp zips (close all zips and turn clothes inside out). Avoid wringing.
  3. Wash cold (30°C or less)❄️: Not only does it save energy, but it also helps prevent colors from fading and keeps clothes from shrinking. Studies found that washing at 30°C compared to higher temperatures is as effective in cleaning and dramatically reduces energy costs by 38%. [1] Wash at 40C only for heavier stains.
  4. Use eco-friendly detergent 🌱: We recommend liquid detergent over powder, preferably biodegradable, phosphate-free, and made with natural ingredients. Avoid mainstream brands with harsh chemicals that are harmful to the environment. Do not use fabric softener - it actually ruins the fabric. Do not bleach.
  5. Avoid tumble drying clothes 🙅: it uses a lot of energy and can damage certain fabrics. Hang clothes to dry, away from sunlight.
  6. Follow instructions on the care label inside each garment.
  7. Repair clothes 👨🏼‍🏭: Instead of throwing away clothes with minor tears or holes, try to fix them or take them to a tailor.
  8. Donate or recycle clothes? ♻️ Most of us mean well when we donate our unused garments. However, be aware that 84% of clothes donated eventually end up in landfills or are burned. As part of our circular system, you can return your item to be recycled using our take-back program in exchange for a 10% discount that you can use towards your next purchase.
